About finbarrow
finbarrow exists because the math behind a "best of" credit card list should be visible to the reader — and at most US personal finance sites, it is not.

What finbarrow is
finbarrow is an independent US personal finance publication. We cover credit cards, high-yield savings, investing and retirement accounts, loans and mortgages, and credit scoring. Every recommendation is anchored in math the reader can see and verify. Every number is sourced. Every article carries a byline, the date of original publication, and the date of the most recent editorial review.
The site is operated from Spain by a single editor, Cristian Corrales. Content is written in en-US for a US audience and uses US dollar amounts, US regulatory references (FDIC, NCUA, CFPB, IRS, FICO, FINRA, SEC, FRB), and US-specific concepts (Roth IRA, 401(k), HYSA, 5/24, mega backdoor Roth, AZEO). When a topic has region-specific nuance, finbarrow flags it explicitly rather than papering over it.
Why it exists
Most "best credit card 2026" rankings at the largest US personal finance sites are influenced — explicitly or implicitly — by affiliate payout per approved application. That is not necessarily corruption. It is structural: when 70% of revenue comes from a card network's referral program, the editorial team has a built-in incentive to rank that issuer's cards favorably. The math behind the recommendation is rarely shown. The reader has no way to audit the choice.
finbarrow takes a different approach. We rank products on the math, we publish the math, and we disclose every affiliate or advertising relationship in plain English before the recommendation, not buried in a footer. If we earn a commission from a card you apply for via our links, we say so on that page. The card we earn the most from is rarely the one we rank first.
The editor
Cristian Corrales is the founding editor. Prior to finbarrow, Cristian built and operated independent publications in the Spanish market across finance, automotive, and energy verticals. finbarrow is the first English-language US property. Every article on this site is written or edited by Cristian. We cite primary sources (IRS publications, CFPB rules, SEC filings) and cross-reference with professional guidance. Individual articles note their sources in the footer.
